The league leaders have a two-point lead over Inter Milan and Napoli and they know that any slip-ups in the outing could put some pressure on coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is expecting a tough contest.
“Even if they hide or attempt to hide away from that fact, (Monday’s) match is a Scudetto duel,” he said.
When these sides met earlier in the season, Milan won the match 2-1 at the Stadio San Paolo and will be hoping the likes of leading goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Alexandre Pato will provide the firepower needed in the attack.
But Milan will need to keep a close eye on forward Edinson Cavani, who has smashed in 20 goals in the league so far this season and Marek Hamsik, who will play alongside him.
A win for Napoli would see them joining Milan at the summit and coach Walter Mazzarri is hoping his side will show no fear as they continue in the chase the Serie A title.
“The game in Milan is like a final,” said Mazzarri, whose side is on 52-points, the same as defending champions Inter.
“We will go there without any fear, trying to impose our play and take home a very important win.”
Milan will continue to be without Massimo Ambrosini, Filippo Inzaghi, Andrea Pirlo, Luca Antonini and Daniele Bonera who are all out injured.
