BUENOS AIRES (Sporting Alert) — Argentina will look to win the Copa America for the first time since beating Mexico 2-1 in the finals in 1993 in Ecuador.

Lionel Messi and hosts will start as favourite to win the title this year, but the players know they will have the prove it.
“We all know the greatness that is Argentina, but we have to show it on the field, setting a good team,” Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi said in a press conference in Ezeiza.
Argentina will open the tournament on Friday against Bolivia and the team admitted that it have a huge responsibility to succeed in front of their own supporters.
“Everyone knows the importance of this match, because it gives confidence,” Lavezzi said. “Argentina will face Bolivia with the greatest responsibility.”
Argentina, who have been been by Brazil in the last two finals, are in Group A, alongside Colombia, Costa Rica and of course Bolivia.
Head coach Sergio Batista is set to name a strong side – lead by the attacking line up – which will include Barcelona’s Messi, Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez and Lavezzi.
Javier Mascherano, Javier Zanetti, Ángel di María and Javier Pastore are also expected to start.
