MUNICH (Sporting Alert) — Roberto Mancini says he won’t accept Carlos Tevez’s behaviour for not wanting go on as a substitute against Bayern Munich and added that the striker won’t play for him again.

Tevez, the captain and leading goalscorer for City last season, refused to go on as a sub during the 2-0 defeat to Bayern in Germany and Mancini was very disappointed.

“While I am manager, Carlos will not play again,” Mancini was quoted as saying. “I don’t want another situation like this. Never. With me, he is finished.

“This can’t happen in a top club, when a player refuses to help his team-mates in an important match.

“Do you think a player can do this at Bayern Munich, AC Milan or Manchester United? Never.

“In the next few days, I will speak to the chairman about his contract and he will decide what to do.

“I don’t know why he was upset. Maybe because he did not go on as the first substitute.

“But I decide these things. At that moment, I decided to change Edin with Nigel de Jong because I wanted to make sure we didn’t concede a third goal as we still had 30 minutes to the end.

“Then Carlos refused to warm up and go on the pitch. He was going to be the second substitution.

“I decide this, not Carlos. If one player earns a lot of money and plays for Manchester City in this competition and refuses to play, then he can never play for us.

Mancini also had strong words for striker Edin Dzeko who also reacted poorly at being a sub.

“As for Dzeko, if he plays better next time, then maybe he can stay on the pitch.

“If we want to improve to the level of Bayern Munich, some players need to improve their behaviour.

“Dzeko was unhappy but I should be the one who is unhappy after his performance, not Dzeko.

“This is the last time that any player moves his head from side to side like this when they are substituted. You can feel upset inside but keep it inside.”
