NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — The New York Knicks are said to be thinking about making another raid for a former Denver Nuggets star players.
According to reports from NBA sources, Ex-Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony wants the Knicks to add his former teammate Kenyon Martin to its roster.
The Knicks are believed to have one more spot available for a player ahead of Sunday’s regular season opener, and it is believed that forward Anthony wants Martin to come join him in New York, even though its highly unlikely he will play in the NBA for a while.
Martin is still contracted to Chinese outfit the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and he is not available to do any business until March.
Reports claimed though that he will be heading back to the United States after the forward “severed ties” with the Chinese club.
He is expected home for the holiday festivals, but will likely watch the NBA from the sidelines for at least three months, as Xinjiang is determined to withhold his FIBA letter of release until their own season is concluded.
Martin and Anthony apparently have a close friendship and sources are saying that he will definitely be thinking about making the switch to head to New York to play with the likes of Tyson Chandler, Amar’e Stoudemire, Mike Bibby and Baron Davis on the Knicks roster.
