Howard closes gap on Love, James, Durant lead scorers, Curry leads 3 in steals – NBA Stats

MIAMI (Sporting Alert) — Dwight Howard pulled down 24 rebounds on Thursday night in the Orlando Magic’s 94-78 victory over the New Jersey Nets.

The performance, his best so far this season and his 46th overall in this campaign – sees him now averaging 15.30 in that category from his three games – closing the gap on leader Kevin Love, who has an average of 16.0 from two matches. Love has pulled down 32 rebounds already this season.

LeBron James of the Miami Heat and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder – currently head the scoring department. James averaging 32.7 and Durant, who scored 30 against the Mavs Thursday night, is at 31.3. The two are currently the only scorers averaging above 30 points per game.

The Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo heads the assist listing with 10.3 from three games, just in front of the Houston Rockets’ Kyle Lowry (10).

Stephen Curry (GSW), James Johnson (TOR) and Ty Lawson (DEN) all averaging four steals per game.
