LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Harry Redknapp has denied reports that Luka Modric could leave Tottenham for Chelsea in exchanged for Fernando Torres.
Chelsea have expressed their desires to sign Modric, who had one point looked as though he would make the move in the summer after handing in a transfer request.
However, Redknapp has managed to convinced the Croatian to remain with the English Barclays Premier League title threatening side and he insists the midfielder is going no where.
Torres has been struggling to match his big money transfer move from Liverpool a year ago with the goals that were promised, and Redknapp has no intentions of bringing the Spanish international to Tottenham.
“No I have never heard that one,” the manager said.
“I think Torres is starting to look the player that we all know he can be, the player he was at Liverpool – he is a top player no doubt that about it.
“But there is no way he is coming to Tottenham and no swap deal is in the offing for Luka Modric, I think they will get the best out of him.”
Chelsea, according to reports, still have their eyes on Modric and are expected to return with another offer in the January transfer window.
But with Tottenham currently ranked above Chelsea in the Barclays Premier League table standings and look more of a title threat, Modric seems to be more settled on remaining at White Hart Lane.

As a staunched Chelsea fan, I’d advise that Torres to remain at Stamford bridge & that they negotiate on Modric on different terms.
