MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Barcelona came from a goal behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg tie of their Spanish Copa del Rey quarter-final clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Real Madrid when he broke down the left hand side of the pitch, dribbled inside the penalty area before firing past goalkeeper José Manuel Pinto from a tight angle in the 11th minute.
Striker Karim Benzema provided the pass that sent the Portugal international on the breakaway.
But Barcelona FC scored two second half goals to stunned the defending champions and take the advantage into the second leg.
Captain Carles Puyol produced a remarkable diving header from a corner kick to beat Iker Casillas in the 49th minute.
Eric Abidal then scored the winner for Barcelona in the 77th minute.
Lionel Messi found a wide open Abidal with a chipped pass inside the area and he finished well past Casillas to seal the victory.
