LONDONG (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United and Manchester City continue to set the pace in the race for the Barclays Premier League title this season. Below is the Premier League table standing for the 2011/12 season on Sunday, Feb. 26.
ENGLISH BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE TABLE STANDINGS
Manchester City, following their easy 3-0 win over Blackburn on Saturday lead the table standings with 63 points, two more than Manchester United, who had to fight hard for a late 2-1 win at Norwich on Sunday.
“It’s a great result and it will have an impact,” United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said on manutd.com afterwards. “Everyone knows we never give in and no matter who plays us they know they’re going to have to play right until the very death.
“I have to say though we were lucky. Norwich were the better team and they had more purpose about them. They kept crossing the ball into our box and but for Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand and David De Gea we’d have been behind. The three of them were brilliant.”
Arsenal jumped back into fourth place and Champion League place with a come from behind 5-2 hammering of third placed Tottenham.
Tottenham remains third with 53 points, while Arsenal are fourth on 46pts, the same as fifth-placed team Chelsea.
With 26 games already off the schedule, the race now heats up to see which team can hold its nerve to win the title.
The Pundits strongly believe that it will continue to be a two team race for the crown – between Manchester City and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, the battle to save relegation gets even more exciting, with Blackburn finding themselves back into the “Red Zone.”
Bolton and Wigan are also in that zone, while the dropping QPR is only goal difference away.
