KINGSTON (Sporting Alert) — Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt has delayed the start of 2012 track and field season because of a business trip, his agent said on Friday.
Bolt, the world record holder over both the 100m (9.58secs) and 200m (19.19secs) was expected to open his campaign with a race over 400m at the Camperdown Classic, but an off-island business commitment has delayed that start.
“He is abroad on business,” manager Ricky Simms was quoted as telling Reuters. “Got some exciting projects coming up.”
Bolt’s training partner Yohan Blake is still expected to launch his Olympic campaign at the meet and he too will race over the 400m.
Blake, after Bolt false-started, went on to win the men’s 100m title at the IAAF World Championships last year.
He also teamed up with Bolt to help Jamaica break the 4x100m world record.
