MIAMI, FL (Sporting Alert) — World 100-metres champion Yohan Blake is predicting another world record for Jamaica in the men’s 4x100m at the London Olympics later this summer.
Blake was a member of the Jamaican quartet which set the current mark of 37.04 seconds at the IAAF World Championships last year in Daegu, South Korea and he believes that mark will go again.
Nest Carter, Michael Frater and Usain Bolt were the other members of the team.
It was the second time Jamaica was breaking the 4x100m relay world record in three-years, following the 37.10secs accomplished in Beijing, China at the last Olympic Games.
That team included Carter, Frater, Bolt and Asafa Powell.
Blake expects the Jamaican sprinters to load up the 100m final in London, which would certainly open the door for another world record.
He said on telegraph.co.uk: “Most of the [Jamaican] guys are going to be in the 100m final and I think it [the 4x100m record] is going to go. It is in the making.”
Blake is being coached by Glen Mills, who is in charge of several of the islands’ top athletes, including double sprint world record holder Bolt.
