Boston, MA (Sporting Alert) — Louisville and Ohio State earned their places in Final Four on Saturday, following two hard earned victories over their opponents.

Louisville, who at the start of the tournament were never picked – at least not by many – to get this far, booked their place in the last four with a 72-68 victory over Florida.

Russ Smith scored 19 points and Chane Behanan added 17 points and seven rebounds in the win for the Cardinals, which had to cut down a big deficit on their way to the win.

“Tonight, it was very difficult because of the way the game ended, because they outplayed us for 32 minutes,” Louisville’s coach Rick Pitino said.

“And it really hurt inside. As much as I felt like celebrating, it really hurt because he did such a masterful job of coaching.”

The Florida Gators had all its five starters in double figure, including Bradley Beal, who ended with 14 points and seven boards.

In the day’s other game, the Ohio State Buckeyes knocked off the No. 1 Syracuse Orange, 77-70, with Jared Sullinger finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds and Lenzelle Smith, Jr. ending with 18 points.

Brandon Triche scored 15 points and Scoop Jardine had 14 in the defeat for Syracuse.
