Western Kentucky 59 beat Mississippi Valley State 58

DAYTON, Ohio (Sporting Alert) — T.J. Price scored 11 points, including a three-point play with 16 seconds left and Western Kentucky made a dramatic comeback Tuesday night to beat Mississippi Valley State 59-58 in an NCAA tournament opener.

Price also pulled down eight rebounds and had three steals in the victory.

It was a special victory for Western Kentucky, which record the win in front of a presidential audience at the University of Dayton Arena.

The game saw President Barack Obama sitting at the front-row alongside British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Derrick Gordon had 11 points and 11 rebounds and George Fant finished with 11 boards and nine points for the Hilltoppers, which stunningly overcame a 16-point deficit in the final 5 minutes.

The winners will now move on to play top seed Kentucky in the South Regional on Thursday in Louisville.

Meanwhile, Kevin Burwell scored 20 points for Mississippi Valley State to lead all scorers, while William Pugh had 11 points and Cor-J Cox added 10 points and seven rebounds.
