EWOOD PARK (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United could put a dent in Manchester City’s title hopes in the Barclays Premier League with a win at Blackburn Rovers tonight.

Manchester United are two points ahead of their rivals Manchester City, following their draw with Sunderland on Saturday and victory tonight would put Sir Alex Ferguson’s men five points clear.

Blackburn, which are in the battle for survival will be no pushovers as they won at Old Trafford earlier this season and will be motivated to do a repeat. United know that they can go five clear of City with the win, while a defeat would put Rovers in bottom three.

Meanwhile, starting for Manchester United is Phil Jones comes into midfield and will play alongside Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes.

Javier Hernandez will partner Wayne Rooney in the attack.

Amongst those on the bench are Paul Pogba, Ryan Giggs, Ashley Young and Danny Wellbeck.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean made one change to his side with defender Bradley Orr coming into the side for striker Mauro Formica.
