Ronaldo fires Portugal into Euro semi-finals (w) video

WARSAW (Sporting Alert) — Cristiano Ronaldo scored a superb header for Portugal to beat the Czech Republic 1-0 in their Euro 2012 quater-finals game in Warsaw on Thursday.

Portugal, which survived the “Group of Death” even after losing it first game, dominated to second half of the game and got the all important goal from Ronaldo in the 79th minute after hitting the post twice.

The Real Madrid forward was scoring his third goal of the tournament, this after netting twice against the Netherlands to secure its place in the knock-out round.

Chelsea forward Petr Cech made several big saves during the game, but it was not even.

While the likes of Ronaldo and Nani were shining, the Czech Republic forward Milan Baros failed to spark and without the midfield creation from Tomas Rosicky the team failed to give Portugal any problems.

The European Championships continues on Friday with Germany playing against Greece in the second quarter-finals.
