Liverpool to use different teams against Toronto FC

TORONTO (Sporting Alert) — New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has decided to play a different side in each half of his first match in charge when the Barclays Premier League team takes on MLS outfits Toronto FC Saturday evening.

With a few of his players, including captain Steven Gerrard and striker Luis Suarez not featuring, Rodgers says he will experiment a bit with the players at his disposal as he seeks to find the right blend ahead of the new season.

The boss has opted to mix both squads with experienced and youth players with the likes of Jose Enrique, Charlie Adam, Jamie Carragher and Alberto Aquilani included in the first starting team for the game playing at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

Martin Skrtel, Jon Flanagan, Joe Cole, Jack Robinson and Jonjo Shelvey will all feature in the second team, which will play at the end of the opening 45 minutes.

Lucas Leiva, Brad Smith and Ryan McLaughlin are amongst the substitutes.

Liverpool: Jones, Enrique, Sama, Carragher, Wisdom, Spearing, Aquilani, Adam, Ibe, Eccleston, Pacheco.

Second-half team: Gulacsi, Flanagan, Skrtel, Wilson, Robinson, Adorjan, Shelvey, Suso, Cole, Sterling, Morgan.

Subs: Lucas, Smith, Ward, McLaughlin.
