Olympic Games: Spain v Japan Teams – Mata, De Gea start

(Sporting Alert) — Chelsea’s Juan Mata and Manchester United’s David De Gea are amongst the starters for Spain, as they seek to add Olympic success to the crown from the European 2012 tournament.

The Spaniards will open in Group D against Japan.

De Gea was left off the Euro team in an attempt to be rested well from club duties and be ready for the Olympics, while Mata, who scored a goal at the Euros was given limited minutes.

On Thursday, the pair alongside the likes of Javi Martinez, Jordi Alba, Koke, Adrian and the exciting Jordi Alba - have been given the task of getting the group favourites off to a winning start.

Expected to play as well is the exciting winger Iker Munain, who is on the bench with Oriol Romeu and Cristian Tello.
