Real Madrid furious with Alex Ferguson over Modric deal, reports say

MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Real Madrid are reportedly furious with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for halting their transfer progress with Luka Modric.

Modric is almost certain to leave Barclays Premier League outfit Tottenham this summer and a host of European giants are gunning for his signature.

It was widely being reported that Real Madrid were close to sealing the Croatian playmaker from Spurs after the Euro 2012 tournament, but according to AS, Ferguson, an admirer of the player, made a serious approach in an attempt to bring him to Old Trafford.

It is believed that Jose Mourinho wants Modric to bolster his squad for the new season, as he seek to land the Champions League title.

Reports in Spain claimed that Real Madrid were prepared to offer a cash plus player, in Ricardo Carvalho in the bid for Modric, before Ferguson stepped in to stalled the progress.

Ferguson has been looking for the player to replace Paul Scholes and although Wesley Sneijder has been heavily linked with the club, it is Modric who the Scot wants.
