LONDON (Sporting Alert) — An intense battle is expected to be on for the signature of Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, and it is being reported that the Premier League side has turned down a €18million offer from Juventus.

Reports have been linking the Holland forward with a move away from the London club with several clubs in Europe keen on signing the unsettled scoring machine.

Juventus haven’t hide their interest in signing Van Persie since the beginning of the transfer searches and according to reports in Italy from Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A champions made a bid, but the Gunners rejected it.

Manchester City have been strongly linked with the leading scorer in the Premier League last season, but manager Roberto Mancini has stepped in to cool the heavy media talks.

The 28-year-old who has 12 months left on his current contract at Arsenal, netted 27 goals in all competitions for his club last season and manager Arsene Wenger is determined to keep star player, especially after losing three last year.
