BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — The United States basketball team took control in the later parts of the game to come away with a comfortable 100-78 victory over Spain in its final Olympic Games warm up match in Barcelona on Tuesday night.

New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony impressively scored 23 of his 27 points in the first half off the bench to the lead the way for the Americans, who have also brushed aside challenges from Brazil and Argentina in previous exhibitions.

The game with Spain was a rematch of the gold-medal game from the last Olympic Games. The two nations, because of the way they are placed in their pools, wouldn’t meet at the tournament until the elimination round – meaning they could face off again in another gold medal clash at the end of everything.

Miami Heat star LeBron James was also in good stint, as he added 25 points in the win, while Oklahoma City Thunder’s scoring machine Kevin Durant had 13.

Leading the way for Spain was the Los Angeles’ Pau Gasol, who scored 19 points, with Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka, had 16 in the defeat.
