WATCH GOAL HIGHLIGHTS: HANNOVER 96 3 MANCHESTER UNITED 4
Artur Sobiech had give the home side a 25th minute lead – taking advantage of a rebound save from goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard which has not covered by his defenders.
Mexican striker Javier Hernandez found the equalizer though for Manchester United when he came on the alert to tap home from close range in the 31st minute.
Hannover 96 then grabbed two second half goals in the 48th and 65th minutes through Karim Haggui and Mohammed Abdellaoue to take a 3-1 lead.
Again poor defending from the Manchester United defenders.
Wayne Rooney then scored the first of his two goals from a wonderful free-kick in the 69th before sending the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot nine minutes from time.
Kagawa scored the winner for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side winner three-minutes later after Rooney headed a pass to him.
“It was end to end at times,” Rooney told Manchester United official website at www.manutd.com. “We probably were a bit sloppy and could’ve done better defending, but I thought some of the play throughout the game was great, some great link-up play between us.
“Thankfully tonight we’ve got the four goals, which we’ve maybe been lacking in pre-season and it’s great to get them in this game with the season coming up.
“[Pre-season] has been a bit stop-start with the international players coming back a bit later, but I think tonight you’ve seen the players are looking better every game, fitter every game. Hopefully by next Monday against Everton we’ll all be ready. Obviously it will be a difficult game.”
