MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric is set to complete his desired move from the Barclays Premier League club to Real Madrid, reports are claiming.

Modric has made it clear that he does not wish to remain with Spurs, after the club missed a Champions League spot last season, following its late season melt-down.

Tottenham were hoping to hold on to the Croatian playmaker, but it is now believed that a deal has been strike with Real Madrid to complete a move to the Spanish giants.

Spurs were trying to hold out for close to £40m for Modric, but after being viciously criticized for holding onto the wantaway player beyond his wishes, it is now suggested that a fee of £26m has been agreed.

According to British media, Modric is set to fly to Madrid, Spain on Thursday to undergo a medical, where he is also set to have personal terms in an attempt to finalize the move ahead of the start of the new La Liga season.

The superstar player has also attracted interests from Manchester United and Chelsea this summer – but his desire to play for Jose Mourinho and the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil did the trick.
