The Brazilian only just joined the squad after international duty at the Olympic Games, but was still called up to make himself available to feature in the game if needed.

Meanwhile, fellow Brazil midfielder Ramires is absent from the squad because of illness so Ryan Bertrand has come in and will play on the left. This means Eden Hazard will move to the right.

Fernando Torres will lead the attack with Daniel Sturridge starting on the bench.

In Wigan team news, Chelsea target Victor Moses is amongst the starters for the game, while new signing Arouna Kone is on their bench.

Manager Roberto Martinez has handed a debut start to defender Ivan Ramis, but Fraser Fyvie and Ryo Miyaichi were both missing.
