NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Alabama and Oregon returned No. 1 and No. 2 in the latest release of the Associated Press Top 25 NCAA Football Rankings in Week 8 on Sunday.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, as expected, was once again the unanimous choice for the top-ranking – collecting all 60 first place votes for 1,500 points, following its 42-10 hammering of Missouri on Saturday

Oregon, an idle team this past weekend remains second, while Florida, Kansas State and Notre Dame, which all picked up wins completed the week’s top five teams.

LSU moved up three places to No. 6, with Ohio State, Oregon State, South Carolina and Oklahoma taking care of the top ten ranked teams.

Last week’s No. 3 South Carolina paid the price for losing on Saturday, so too did West Virginia, which ranked 4th a week.

West Virginia fell the heaviest of the two after falling nine-places to 14th.
