NORMAN, Oklahoma (Sporting Alert) — No. 5 Notre Dame sounded a loud warning to its rivals when the travelers beat No. 8 Oklahoma in Norman to register its biggest win of the season so far.
After both teams battled out the first half which ended 10-6 in favour of Notre Dame, the Irish went on to take the game 30-13 and put themselves in line move up in the rankings when the latest release comes out on Sunday.
Quarterback Everett Golson had 13-25 for 177 yards in the game. He also had 11 rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown in the win here in Norman – putting a damper on the night for the Oklahoma fans, who truly thought that the Sooners would have things their way at the Memorial Stadium,
In other results on Saturday, No. 1 Alabama hammered Mississippi State 38-7, but No. 2 Florida suffered its first defeat of the season – going down 17-9 against Georgia.
No. 9 South Carolina was also beaten on Saturday, taken down 39-36 by Arizona. No. 4 Oregon piled up 70 points on the Colorado defense in the easy 70-14 win.
