OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Sporting Alert) — The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed terms to trade star guard and sharp shooter James Harden to the Houston Rockets, Yahoo! Sports is reporting on Saturday night.
Harden, who was instrumental in OKC’s run to the NBA finals last season, had been in contract discussion with the club for a while and it is believed that both parties could not come to an agreement.
The trade for Harden, according to the report, will see the Houston Rockets sending Kevin Martin, rookie Jeremy Lamb and two future draft picks to the Thunder.
The Thunder will also send Daequan Cook, Cole Aldridge and Lazar Hayward to the Rockets along with Harden.
Oklahoma Thunder fans will be devastated by the news, but the break down in the ongoing contract extension left Thunder GM Sam Presti with no other choice but to act as quickly as possible to get a deal done before the start of the new season.
It is believed that Harden turned down a five year contract from the Thunder.
