LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Arsenal, Southampton, Chelsea and Norwich were all winners in a busy day in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

Fernando Torres scored a brace for Chelsea to beat a struggling Sunderland side at the Stadium of Light to guide the Blues to a 3-1 win on the road.

Torres opened the scoring after just 11th minutes and then doubled the lead from the penalty spot shortly before the the half-time interval.

Juan Mata netted his team’s third, while Adams Johnson beat Peter Cech to grab a consolation for the Black Cats.

Penalties were the deciders at the Emirates Stadium as midfielder Mikel Arteta converted twice from the penalty spot to lift Arsenal past West Bromwich by 2-0.

But the most exciting contest came at The Liberty Stadium, a game that involved Norwich and Swansea City.

The game ended 4-3 in Norwich’s favor, but could have easily gone the other way as well.

Norwich jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Swansea City, but a Michu brace almost won the hosts a share of the points.

Elsewhere, James McCarthy scored twice in Wigan’s 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers, Jason Puncheon’s lone 61st minute strike earned Southampton a well needed 1-0 win over Reading, while Stoke City and Aston Villa ended 0-0.
