NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) Carmelo Anthony has been ruled out of the New York Knicks game tonight against the Sacramento Kings at Sleep Train Arena.

Anthony was listed as questionable earlier with a knee injury he picked up during the Christmas Day defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers, which forced him to sit out Wednesday night’s win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Knicks were hoping to have its leading scorer back Friday night, but it seems this game also came too soon for the All-Star forward, who will miss his second straight game.

The club says he will not undergo an MRI for the what they confirmed as a hyperextended left knee, but will continue to be listed as day to day.

Anthony, who has scored 20 or more points in his last ten games, including a massive 45 in the win over the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 11, is averaging 28.5 points per game and is the second leading scorer in the NBA league this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant heads the strong group of scorers.

Anthony is shooting at 47.3 percent from the field, which makes him a very dangerous weapon for any opponent.

The Knicks are 3-2 in five without him.
