HOUSTON (Sporting Alert) — A host of celebrities, including track and field legend Usain Bolt will take center stage in the 2013 Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. The TV Channel and Start Time will also be posted here.
The game, which takes place Friday on Feb. 15, starts at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN and WatchESPN.com.
Jamaican Bolt, the 100m and 200m sprint World Record holder and the six-time Olympic Games gold-medallist, has decided that for just one night, he will trade the track for the court and feature in this year’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game here in Houston.
Bolt, a man always in the spotlight, has acknowledged that basketball isn’t his most favourite sport to play, but is looking forward to joining the host of other celebrities and have some fun.
He will be joined on the court by the likes of comedian Kevin Hart, actor Nick Cannon, RnB singers Ne-Yo and Trey Songz, rapper Common and Josh Hutcherson.
Former NBA players Dikembe Mutombo, Clyde Drexler and Sean Elliott, WNBA stars Tamika Catchings and Maya Moore, E! News anchor Terrence Jenkins, E! News anchor Terrence Jenkins, ABC news correspondent John Schriffen and ESPN’s Bruce Bowen, another NBA ex-player and Ryen Russillo, will take the court as well.
“It`s something big and something fun for me,” Bolt, who is taking a break from his track and field preparation said.
“So I`m just looking forward to going out there and having fun and try to dunk a few times.”
Bolt, who gave up playing basketball at a young age to focus more on his track and field career added: “I`m not a good shooter but, hey, I used to be a good player.
“I can`t say I`m any good right now, because I`ve stopped playing basketball and started playing football, so I`m really rusty, but I`m sure I can dunk.”
Former Oklahoma City Thunder teammates Russell Westbrook and James Harden, who now at Houston Rockets, will be the special head coaches for the Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity teams. Queen Latifah, a rapper and actress and TV host Samantha Harris will be the assistances.
Westbrook and Harden are also members of the 2013 Western Conference All-Stars team.
