Cape Verde battled to a 1-1 draw with Morocco in their last outing to add to the point they picked up against South Africa and head coach Lucio Antunes sees this one a huge game for the debutantes.
“This game is crucial for the two teams as victory could take us through to the quarter-finals,” Antunes said.
“We will do our best to win the game, which will be difficult against a good Angola team, who parade some talented players who can create trouble for us.”
Cape Verde sits second in Group A behind group leaders South Africa thanks to Ryan Mendes and Platini and captain Nando is hoping to the team will continue to prove the predictions wrong.
The skipper said: “For us, just to be here is an achievement. We’re off to a good start and we now want to finish well.
“Finishing well means going to the quarter-finals, the next stage.”
Angola, meanwhile, sit at the bottom of the group standings with just one point after losing 2-0 to South Africa and playing to a goalless draw with Morocco in their two games.
A win is a must for them today and the team knows it.
“It is not over for us in this tournament. We still have another match, said Angola coach Gustavo Ferrin.
He added: “Anything can happen there. We have to monitor other results in the group and take it from there.
“We lost against South Africa and that didn’t help us.”
