NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) – Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds as the New York Knicks dominated the San Antonio Spurs 100-82 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.

The defeat saw the tired looking Spurs losing its seven game win streak.

J.R. Smith finished with 20 points, while Steve Novak knocked down five of his nine attempts from three point range for 15 points in the win.

Tyson Chandler chipped in with 14 rebounds and 10 points and Amar’e Stoudemire played 21 minutes and scored 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting off the bench.

Gary Neal lead the way for the San Antonio Spurs with 12 points, while Tony Parker and Tim Duncan both added 11 points in the disappointing defeat.

The Spurs played the majority of the game without forward Stephen Jackson, who was forced to leave the game in the first quarter after he sprained his right ankle tripping over a waitress in a freak accident on the sidelines.
