Bafana Bafana are leading Group A with four points, following their 2-0 win over Angola last week and will definitely will assure a place in the last eight if they manage to avoid a defeat.
Goals by Siyabonga Sangweni and Lehlohonolo Majoro on either side of 45 minutes helped South Africa to the important win last Wednesday, and head coach Gordon Igesund was particularly happy with his team’s performance.
“I was very happy with the team that started [against Angola] and I was very happy with the team that finished,” Igesund said.
“Playing defensive football is not my style.
“However, I cannot go out there and open up, leaving us vulnerable to counter-attacks.”
Striker Majoro will miss the game, however, after he suffered a cut on his shin during Wednesday’s game.
“I’m going to miss maybe a couple of games,” he said. “The medical staff said I may miss the next game or two.”
Meanwhile, Morocco will be without attacking playmaker Younes Belhanda because of suspension after he collected two yellow cards in the 1-1 draw with Cape Verde.
Morocco need a win today against South Africa to make sure they secure a quarterfinal place.
“What is important for us is to reach the knockout stage,” Morocco coach Rachid Taoussi said.
“We have talented footballers, but sometimes lack team-work.
“It is a bitter reality I am striving to change.”
South Africa, according to Sky are 7/5 favourites to beat Morocco, with the latter being at 21/10
