LONDON (sporting Alert) – As expected, Manchester United have decided on resting leading striker Robin van Persie for today’s English FA Cup clash with West Ham United.
With van Persie only named on the bench, and Wayne Rooney still out injured, manager Sir Alex Ferguson hand Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez the starting places up front for the Premier League leaders.
Ferguson has also decided to keep things consistent in goal, with David de Gea keeping his place in the starting XI.
Chris Smalling, Paul Scholes, Tom Cleverley, Shinji Kagawa and Nemanja Vidic all start as well, with Manchester United also naming a very strong substitute bench, which include Ryan Giggs, van Persie, Rio Ferdinand, Antonio Valencia and Federico “Kiko” Macheda.
Meanwhile, Joe Cole makes his debut for West Ham United, following his transfer move to at Upton Park this week from Liverpool FC.
Charlton Cole also starts for West Ham.
