NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — The NBA has announced the suspension of New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony, following his after the game confrontation with Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics.

The league confirmed that Anthony has been handed a one game suspension for his action after the Knicks loss Celtics.

Asked by reporters his reason for confronting Garnett, Anthony explained: ”There’s certain things that you just don’t say to men, another man.

”I felt like we crossed a line, but like I said, we both had an understanding right now, we handled it the way we handled it.

“Nobody needs to know what was said behind closed doors, so that situation was handled.”

At the time of the NBA investigation, Anthony said there was nothing wrong with what he did and it shouldn’t merit a suspension.

He explained earlier, “Nothing happened for me to be suspended. I wanted to talk to KG.

“I think it was something we both needed to get off our chest and see what really the problem was. No altercations, it was just some words and a conversation that we needed to have.”

However, the NBA didn’t see things the same way as the Knicks forward.

“There are no circumstance in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game,” NBA’s Stu Jackson said in statement
