LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Striker Darren Bent was handed a rare start by Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert for today’s English FA Cup fourth-round tie with Millwall at The Den.
Bent, who has constantly been overlooked by Lambert this season, starts alongside Andreas Weimann in the Aston Villa attack, as the English Premier League side looks to avoid any more upsets in their disappointing cup campaign so far.
The England international replaces regular forward Christian Benteke, who was not considered for the game, while Gabriel Agbonlahor is only on the bench.
Ashley Westwood and Eric Lichaj were also recalled by the Villa boss, who opted to start the experienced Shay Given over Brad Guzan.
Meanwhile, npower Championship side Millwall made three changes from the side that was defeated 2-0 Burnley in the last outing, with Karleigh Osbourne, Liam Feeney and John Marquis all coming in for the Lions.
