MEXICO CITY — (Sporting Alert) — The United States and Mexico meet in what is expected to be a classical CONCACAF World Cup 2014 qualifier at the Estadio Azteca on Tuesday night.

“It is important that the team is calm and to fully understand the circumstances,” Jose Manuel de la Torre said.

“We don’t have any pretexts. We are always responsible for what happens, that is what is in our hands. What is outside of our hands is not our issue. Focus on what you can have an impact on.”

USA are coming off a battling 1-0 win over Costa Rica last Friday in the snow storm in Colorado and will want to build on that victory.

However, with several key players, such as Landon Donavon, Tim Howard and Jermaine Jones out of the game, the trip to the Azteca could be a punishing one for the Americans.

Clint Dempsey, who scored the winning goal early in the competition will continue to captain the team.

Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez and former Tottenham winger Giovani Dos Santos start tonight again for the Mexicans who are determined to look move past the 2-2 draw at Honduras, after leading 2-0.

Hernandez scored both goals for Mexico.

“We’re totally concentrated on the game,” said winger Andres Guardado. “Also, we know we have more potential than [the U.S.], and we’re at home, so we have to take advantage because that’s important in World Cup qualifying.”

Guardado could play a big part in the outcome of the result tonight.

Meanwhile, Herculez Gomez, Graham Zusi, Geoff Cameron, Maurice Edu and Michael Bradley have been handed starts for the United States.
