(Sporting Alert) — Eight more games are set for the 3rd round of the NCAA March Madness Tournament on Sunday and experts are predicting more upsets on the busy day of action.
With one No. 1 seed already stunned on Saturday night, Kansas (30-5) are keen to stay focused, as they know that their clash against (8) North Carolina (25-10) is the game many are predicting to serve up the most entertainment on Sunday.
“It’s the kind of game you always dream about as a kid to play in,” said North Carolina sophomore forward Jackson Simmons.
“It’s Kansas. It’s North Carolina. It’s two great programs that have won national championships. It’s going to be a lot of fun to play in Kansas City on Sunday.”
The Tar Heels are still bitter about their defeat to the Jayhawks last year which ended their tournament and place in the Final Four and Roy Williams side, despite being the underdog are confident of pulling off the win.
Meanwhile, amongst the other teams in action on Sunday is No. 2 seed Duke who will look to book a place in the sweet 16 with a win over the seventh-seed Creighton (28-7).
The Blue Devils (28-5) which knocked off Albany Great Danes 73-61 in the second on Friday are certainly one of the favourites to win the tournament, but an off day in the shooting department could cost them a place in the next round.
Duke will be hoping star forward Ryan Kelly isn’t being bothered by his ankle with images shooting him wearing his protective boot lately. Seth Curry, Rasheed Sulaimon and Mason Plumlee are also expected to support in the scoring.
Elsewhere, (15) Florida Gulf Coast take on (7) San Diego State with another big upset on their minds, (2) Ohio State battle (10) Iowa State, (1) Indiana will face (9) Temple, while the improving ACC tournament and regular season champion (2) Miami (FL) and (7) Illinois look for a last 16 place.
