(Sporting Alert) — Real Madrid will take a 3-0 lead into the Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with Galatasaray, while Borussia Dortmund and Malaga who are 0-0, will battle for another semi-final place.
The games will be broadcast live on FoxSoccer2Go, Al Jazeera Sports, Sky Sports, Dolce Sport, Digi Sport, Setanta Sport Ireland and SuperSport MaXimo, while we will have live scores here.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuaín scored the goals for Real Madrid when these two met in the first leg last week to give Jose Mourinho’s side a very comfortable cushion.
Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos are but suspended for the game, while midfield playmaker Kaka misses out because of a leg injury he picked at the weekend and Pepe remains doubtful with a hamstring injury.
Real Madrid are favourites to go through, but Mourinho is warning the La Liga side about complacency.
“After our first meeting I told my players that a team who won the first match 3-0 may lose the second by the same result,” he said on www.uefa.com.
“I said anything is possible and we must be very careful against Galatasaray. We have worked on the different defensive formations of Galatasaray.
“In the first game, they started the match with a four-man defence and switched to three in the second half. We worked on measures against both styles.
Mourinho must also decide on whether to recall his fit again captain Iker Casillas or continue with Diego López, who has been in good form since signing in January.
Galatasaray, in the meantime, will be without forward Burak Yılmaz, who has scored eight goals in the Champions League and Dany Nounkeu because of suspension.
“Our season shows we are going in the right direction, we will try to do even better next year,” head coach Fatih Terim said.
“It is not over yet anyway. Our mission is to be successful both in Europe and the world. That is clear.
“Burak Yılmaz will not be playing tomorrow [due to suspension] so we have lost one of the most important players in the Champions League.”
In the day’s other Champions League quarter-final second leg, Borussia Dortmund and Malaga will start locked at 0-0 and everything to play for at BVB Stadion Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund squandered several opportunities in the first leg, which drew several negative comments manager Jürgen Klopp wants his team to block out.
“I told the lads today at training that we heard far too many negative comments about the first-leg result,” Klopp said on www.uefa.com.
“I have no idea how anyone can think you win in Malaga just like that. Everything that has happened so far in this campaign, the first leg included, has been extremely positive. But that does not guarantee anything.”
Mats Hummels (ankle ligaments) and Jakub Błaszczykowski (muscle strain) are both available for for the home side after long-term injuries.
Antunes, Weligton and Manuel Iturra are both suspended for Malaga.
