MOSCOW (Sporting Alert) — Yaya Toure, unfortunately was the subject of racist abuse on Wednesday night, after the Manchester City midfielder received monkey chants from sections of the crowd during the Champions League game at CSKA Moscow.
FIFA and UEFA both have been busy, working on trying to clamp down on racism in the sport of football, but the problems raised its ugly head again in Moscow, with another incident such as this.
Of course Toure continued carrying on playing his football, but wished that UEFA will take action against such behaviour soon.
“I told the ref. I think it was unbelievable and very sad. We want to stop that,” Toure said.
“I think UEFA have to do a lot to try to stop it. Maybe ban the stadium for a couple of games.
“As an African player, it is always sad when you hear something like that.
“I was very disappointment. It was very sad. Someone in the crowd today was quite stupid.
Manchester City is leading the Group D fixture 2-1, with striker Sergio Aguero scoring both goals for the English Premier League side.
Former Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic netted the opening goal for CSKA Moscow, but the lead didn’t last long.
