(Sporting Alert) — Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani start in the forward line for Uruguay in their 2014 FIFA World Cup playoff qualifier against Jordan at King Abdullah Stadium on Wednesday.
Suarez has been in top form since returning from suspension for Liverpool in the English Premier League this season, scoring eight goals in six games, and has been backed at 10/1 net a hat-trick against Jordan in the opening-leg of the two-legged tie.
And after topping the scoring charts during the South American qualifying with 11 goals, you can see why Suarez is being so heavily linked to hammer the Asian hopefuls.
Paris Saint-Germain powerful forward Cavani has also been in good touch for the Ligue 1 side, scoring nine goals in 13 games and taking 38 shots.
Uruguay, the fourth-place finisher at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa and a two-time winner at the prestigious tournament, start this game as the favorite, but will take nothing for granted.
Suarez and Cavani are at 13/8 to score in this game.
“I do not know much about the Jordan team, but it seems they will put everything on the pitch to qualify, and I have followed their matches against Uzbekistan and Oman, and we will respect them,” said Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez.
“No one can predict who will win tomorrow, Jordan will give everything they have and we will do the same.”
Also starting today for Uruguay are Cristian Rodriguez, Egidio Arévalo, Christian Stuani and Nicolás Lodeiro in midfield, while Diego Lugano, Diego Godín and Maxi Pereira all start in the backline.
Veteran Diego Forlán, Abel Hernandez, Gaston Ramirez and Alvaro González are among the players on the bench.
