EARLY TEAM NEWS
The New York Knicks said star Carmelo Anthony will be a game-time decision for the Christmas Day fixture against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Anthony sprained his left ankle in the third quarter of Knicks’ win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night and is doubtful for Wednesday’s meeting with the Thunder at Madison Square Garden.
“Hopefully I’ll be there,” Anthony said after the Magic game. “I don’t want to miss that game. It’s Christmas in the Garden. I don’t want to miss that game.”
The Knicks is already without starting point guard Raymond Felton, who also strained his right groin against the Magic. Forward Kenyon Martin has also been ruled out of the contest with a strained abdominal muscle.
Meanwhile, guard Beno Udrih is expected to start for New York with Felton out.
The LA Lakers welcome back guard Jordan Farmar, who will start against the Thunder so Xavier Henry will move back to a bench role.
Mike D’Antoni Mistake To Fans
Meanwhile, Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni has moved to backtracked from comments he made after his team’s 117-90 defeat to the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The head coach, to the surprise of many fans and pundits. stated that supporters who are not happy with the Lakers this season should perhaps “find another team to root for.”
“I was an idiot last night,” D’Antoni said ahead of the Lakers’ Christmas Day clash with the Heat. “I was out of my mind.
“I was ticked off. We didn’t play well and I said some stuff I shouldn’t have. It was stupid. That’s me, I just made a mistake.”
