(Sporting Alert) — The following are the scores and results from the NCAA college football games that took place on Saturday (Dec. 7).
Topping the list was college football No. 1 team Florida State (13-0, 8-0 ACC), as leading quarterback Jameis Winston keep their undefeated season going with an easy 45-7 victory over No. 20 Duke on Saturday night to lift the ACC championship title.
The win sees the Seminoles heading to the VIZIO BCS National Championship, where they are set to meet No. 3 Auburn next month after No. 2 Ohio State were beaten by No. 10 Michigan State.
Winston was again the top man for Florida State after he threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score.
In another high intense SEC Championship college football game on Saturday, the Auburn Tigers (12-1, 7-1 SEC) delivered another big time performance on their way to beating No. 5 Missouri 59-42.
Several pundits are believing that Auburn should be the No. 1 college football team in the country, and head coach Gus Malzahn thinks his team has shown they can be.
“We’re playing our best football right now,” said Malzahn. “I don’t know if any other team can say that.”
The game saw running back Tre Mason of Auburn, who rushed for 304 yards and four touchdowns, setting five individual SEC championship game records in the win. Auburn, with 545 rushing yards against Missouri, also set an SEC game record.
At the Lucas Oil Stadium, No. 2 Ohio State had its win streak ended in the Big Ten title game after losing 34-24 to No. 10 Michigan State, which more than likely ended the Buckeyes chance of playing in the VIZIO BCS National Championship game.
Defeat on Saturday was Ohio State under coach Urban Meyer first in 24 games.
In other NCAA college football results Saturday, stand in quarterback Blake Bell lead No. 18 Oklahoma (10-2, 7-2 Big 12) to a 33-24 victory over arch rival and No. 6 Oklahoma State (10-2, 7-2 Big 12) in another Bedlam Series.
“I’m still in shock of the whole deal,” Bell said of his pass on the last drive. “That was everyone being out there doing a great job, and everyone doing their job and marching down the field and getting the game winning drive.”
The defeat dented the Cowboys’ hope of winning the Big 12 Championship, as well as a Fiesta Bowl berth, which went to the No. 9 Baylor Bears (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) who defeated the No. 23 Texas Longhorns (8-4, 7-2), 30-10 to win the Big 12 title.
“That was a heck of a football game,” OSU head coach Mike Gundy said. “It’s unfortunate that we came up short. What the game really came down to was that Oklahoma made some key plays on fourth down, and we didn’t.
“We lost the kicking game. We gave up 14 points in the kicking game. When you do that, it’s always really tough to win.
“There are always three phases, offense, defense and kicking game, and giving up 14 points in the kicking game is really tough to overcome.”
Elsewhere, No. 7 Stanford (11-2, 7-2 Pac-12) win a Rose Bowl place with a 38-14 win over No. 11 Arizona State (10-3, 8-1 Pac-12) to take the Pac-12 championship.
