LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Arsenal say they have no intentions of selling striker Robin van Persie to arch rivals Manchester United this summer.
Van Persie has decided to not extend his contract with the Gunners with his current deal set to expire next summer.
The Dutch international has been linked with a move away from the club and their were reports circulating in the media that Sir Alex Ferguson was confident of landing the forward who he would love to pair up with Wayne Rooney.
However, Arsenal have made it clear that they have no intentions of selling Van Persie to the Barclays Premier League runner up from last season and will continue the fight to try and persuade him to stay.
Another Premier League side, champions Manchester City are also said to be showing interest, while Serie A champions Juventus are ready to drop their interest – citing that the bidding price was too much for them.
Van Persie was the star man for Arsenal last season and their were many who strongly believed that he would have signed the extension.
But the Premier League top scorer from last term revealed that he and the club weren’t on the same page in terms of where the club was heading.
