Both players have been in extremely top form at the tournament so far and pundits are backing the final to be a classic.
Murray, who in past crumbled on the big stage, now believes that he’s mature well enough now to handle the pressure and the Great Britain Olympic champion is backing himself to produce his best form against World No. 1 Djokovic.
He said: “I think I started to play better tennis and played at my optimum level more in the big matches over the last year or so which hasn’t always been the case.
“That’s what changed for me.”
Djokovic, who was beaten by Murray when the two last met in New York last year, was absolutely brilliant in his semi-final trashing of the fourth seeded David Ferrer and his opponent is expecting a very tough game.
“He’s number one in the world, he was in the US Open final, French Open final, Wimbledon semis and he’s in the final here,” Murray noted, adding “And he’s playing extremely well.”
He continued: “You just try your best to be in the best possible condition for Sunday.
“But realistically you’re probably not going to feel perfect because of how the match went (against Federer), but it’s not to say you can’t recover well enough to play your best tennis.”
Murray was making note of his five set thriller with Federer, which many thought would hand Djokovic an advantage.
However, the Serbian stated: “Yes, Andy played a five-set match against Roger but apart from that he hasn’t really been tested the whole tournament.
“Also, he’s considered as one of the physically strongest and fittest guys around.
“So I am sure he is going to be fit for the final.”
