(Sporting Alert) — Fernando Torres could return to the starting XI for Chelsea in their Champions League Group E clash with Schalke at Veltins Arena Tuesday night.

Torres returned to action at the weekend after recovering from the knee injury he picked up at FC Steaua Bucureşti on matchday two and he is set to replace Samuel Eto’o in the attack.

However, the game comes too soon for England left-back Ashley Cole, but German forward Andre Schurrle did make the trip to Germany.

Schalke sitz top of the group with six points after winning their opening two games and head coach Jens Keller hopes his team can maintain its good start.

“We have taken a lot of confidence from recent results and performances in the Champions League over the past years. With the fans behind us, we want to give our best,” Keller said.

“I have always said I want to win every game. However, a draw would be OK – we could certainly live with that. We have watched several Chelsea games. José Mourinho is a great coach with lots of qualities and he has achieved a lot. I have the utmost respect for him.
