China lead medal table standings after day five

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — China and the United States continue to set the pace in the medal standings at the London 2012 Olympic Games, following day five of action.

China have now won 17 gold medal in their total of 30 medals overall. They have also won nine silver and four bronze as well.

The United States have so far won 12 gold medals in their overall total of 29 medal after Wednesday’s full day of action.

South Korea, with six golds in their 12 overall medals, France with five gold medals and 13 overall and North Korea, four golds in their tally of five medal – completed the top five nations on the medal table standings.

A total of 229 medals have been dished out so far, with 73 of them being gold medals.
