MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Mario Balotelli scored a stoppage time penalty to give Manchester City a 3-2 victory over Tottenham in the English Barclays Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
In other Premier League score on Sunday, Manchester United kept the pressure on their neighbors and rivals with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott scored second half goals in quick successions to give Manchester City a 2-0 lead before the hour mark.
However, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale netted afterward to level the scores until substitute Balotelli scored from the spot after he was brought down by Ledley King in the box.
Antonio Valencia gave Manchester United the lead at the Emirates Stadium on the stroke of half-time before Robin van Persie netted the equaliser 71st.
Valencia then setup striker Danny Welbeck for the winner ten-minutes later, as Sir Alex Ferguson side stayed three-points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League table.
