English Premier League Points Standings: May 11

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — English Premier League results and standings heading into Monday night’s clash between Arsenal and Swansea City at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal head into the matchup six points Manchester City in the race for second place, but have two games in hand.

The Gunners will move to 73 points with a win, but still have Manchester United to play and they are still looking for a top three finish.

Swansea City are sitting eighth in the points standings with 53 points and they still have dreams of playing in the Europa League next season. The Swans target Southampton and Tottenham, who are both heading in the wrong direction.

Champions Chelsea lead the standings with 84pts, 11 ahead of Man City (73), with Arsenal (70) and Manchester United (68) rounding out the top four.

Liverpool stay fifth with 62pts and are virtually out of the Champions League qualifying places, following their 1-1 draw with the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Reds were hoping to beat Chelsea to keep things interesting in the race with Manchester United for fourth, but fell behind early and failed in their bid to get a winning goal.

“I think we got off to an awful start. A disappointing goal from our perspective,” Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports.

“We got ourselves back into the game, a good header from Stevie was well worked and I thought in the second half we were outstanding, we just lacked that bit of quality in the final third.”

Tottenham (58), Southampton (57) Swansea (53), Stoke (50) and West Ham United (47) complete the top 10.

In the relegation battle, QPR were officially relegated from the EPL, following a 6-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City, with Sergio Aguero netting a hattrick.

QPR join Burnley as the early droppers, with the likes of Sunderland, Hull City, Newcastle United, Leicester City and Aston Villa all hoping to be selected for that one non-magical slot.
