Chelsea came from behind to beat Everton 2-1, thanks to two goals from star midfielder Lampard, who could find himself searching for a club next week.
Midfielder Steven Pienaar had given Everton the perfect start when he fired home after just 63-seconds on the clock.
But Lampard found the equaliser just before the half-time break and then headed in the winner 18-minutes from time.
“It was very hard. This is always one of the most difficult games of the season,” Lampard said. “We got a tanking here last year and we had to stand up for ourselves.
“We went 1-0 down but after half an hour we started getting into the game. Once we got a foothold we got a goal at a good time. It was always going to be very close and we did ride our luck at times.
“We have to keep believing this season – there is a long way to go. We can only win our games then rely on other things.”
Meanwhile Liverpool put further dent into QPR season as the Reds hammered Harry Redknapp’s side 3-0, with Suarez scoring a brace and defender Daniel Agger grabbing another in the win at Loftus Road.
“QPR are having a tough time at the moment, and we knew if we started well we could quieten the crowd then play our football,” Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said after the match.
“We played probably our best football of the season in the first half. Harry Redknapp changed things and we found it much harder to get through.
“Luis Suarez has been brilliant since he’s come to the club. He’s a magician. These players only have to play against him twice a year – we have to train with him every day!
