MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has named Jack Rodwell in a five man midfield to face Chelsea in today’s Barclays Premier League game at Etihad Stadium.
Rodwell joins the likes of Yaya Toure, Silva and Javi Garcia in the midfield with Sergio Aguero being the lone man up front.
Kolo Toure also starts in defense, alongside Pablo Zabaleta, who captain’s the side today, Matija Nastasic and Gael Clichy.
The likes of Carloz Tevez, Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri are all on the bench.
Meanwhile, Demba Ba and Frank Lampard are back in the starting lineup for Chelsea, with Fernando Torres and Oscar on the bench.
Midfielder Lampard has been impressive in the scoring department recently – scoring 11 goals in his 13 English Premier League starts for Chelsea this season – and his amongst the bookies favourites to score at least one goal against Manchester City.
Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and David Luiz all start, with John Terry back on the bench.
