(Sporting Alert) — Mexico and Korea DPR will kick-start the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, as action starts in Group A at Estadio Morelos, on Saturday.
NOTE: Game time: 4:00 pm ET, 3:00 pm local | Television: ESPNU, Galavision (delay), ESPN3.com, FIFA.com.
Both sides will fancy their chances of pulling off a win in the clash that many believe will be an awkward for the hosts.
The remain confident, however, and coach Raul Gutierrez believes home support will be helpful.
“We’re the home side and I think we need to respond to that and take the game to them from the start,” said Gutierrez.
“They’re a typical Asian side who can break very quickly and they have a couple of really talented individuals too.
“If they’re the best on their continent, then it must be for a reason.”
Korea DPR coach An Ye Gun, in the meantime, thinks this game could decide how things go in the group stage.
“It’s the inaugural match, against the host nation too, and we know how much it matters,” he said.
“What really matters for us, though, is that it could decide our fate in the group phase.”
